Here's a look at what we started with...
BEFORE
...and how it looks now...
AFTER
Check out this post for some in progress pictures of our board and batten entryway.
We've had a lot of fun doodling and writing messages on it, but last night, I tried something a little bit different and I think that it turned out quite well!
Here's the how to...
Letterrific
A little stash of old stencils...
... is perfect for getting creative with a favourite quote.
Hold up!
Just hold the stencil up to the wall and draw in some chalk.
Smooth it over.
Blending with a finger does the trick.
Footloose and Fancy-free.
Smudges and marks are inevitable. A damp paper towel works well to clean up some areas, but I think some imperfections add a bit of character.
Fun. Simple. And if you make a mistake - it's just chalk!
Do you have a chalkboard wall?
If so, what's written on it at the moment?
Thanks for dropping by.
Looks great;)

Really cute! I've been toying with the idea of painting the door into our laundry room with chalkboard paint. The board and batten is pretty too. Another thing that goes back and forth in my head on a weekly basis. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love your wall! We're just getting ready to do a chalkboard paint backsplash, and I'm totally going to try your stencil idea! Thanks!

LOVE that quote and stencils are genius! I usually end up writing something 20 times before I like the way it looks. The chalkboard is so dramatic with the board & batten - absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHi friend! I just wanted to let you know that I featured your beautiful wall on my blog today! I hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful wall, quote and fabulous idea {as always} !!! I have been really into chalkboard paint but now u have me thinking about chalkboarding a large portion of my entry-way. How many coats do you think you'd need?
ReplyDeleteXO!!
This wall looks wonderful, love the quote! Great stencilling idea!
ReplyDeleteI love how your wall came out! I am a fan of chalkboards and love the addition of the stencils! Well done! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! We just made the back of our pantry door into a chalkboard, and I was regretting it because my kids can't draw, and I have terrible handwriting - so it just looks messy all the time. This might be just the thing to keep me from painting over it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIt looks GREAT! And using a stencil is so smart.
